Quell NOMAD – tests after 3 months

In the previous test of the Quell NOMAD bottle, the German laboratory ISEGA verified the effectiveness of the new filter. Its capacity covers 300 bottle fillings or two months of use respectivelly. But what if the filter bottle is used infrequently or has not been used for a long time after the first use? Will the filter lose its ability after two months or will it become ineffective? As this is a relatively common question, repeated laboratory tests can give us a reliable answer.

The Quell NOMAD filter bottles used in the December 2020 tests were stored without further use for three months. Subsequently, the same filtration ability tests were performed on them again.

Result: exactly the same efficiency as the new filter!

While the filter capacity significantly depends on the purity of filtered water, the time aspect affects the efficiency of the Disruptor™ filtration technology less significantly.

So how to use and change the filter in the bottle correctly?

  • The volume of filtered water and its purity are very important. The collected impurities gradually clog the filter. Therefore, if you see that the water flow has visibly decreased, replace the filter immediately, regardless of the time of use or the volume of filtered water. Never “put pressure” on the filter.
  • If you have reached the recommended 300 refills, the filter has fulfilled its task and replace it.
  • If you are using the filter bottle infrequently and the water flow is sufficient, you can leave the filter in the bottle for two months after the first use. However, do not exceed a period of one season (6 months).
  • If you are traveling to an area (country) with a higher risk of contaminated water, we recommend using a new filter. Remember to activate it before going on a trip (see manual).
  • When not in use, empty the bottle and wash it. Allow the filter to dry.
