FAQ

Quell NOMAD filter bottle

Practically anywhere. It will definitely serve you best on trips and hikes, cycling, in the car, traveling abroad, camping, but also at work, at school or at home. You will also be pleasantly surprised by how much less plastic waste will be generated thanks to you (capacity of one filter = approx. 150 pcs of 1.5 l plastic bottles).

The service life of the filter cartridge is approximately 300 cartridges (approx. 200 l) or 2 months from the first use. However, the actual life may vary depending on what kind of water you are filtering. If it is dirty, you will clog the filter much earlier. A good indicator for filter replacement is the flow of water through the filter. If it decreases significantly and the water passes more difficult, replace the filter cartridge as soon as possible and do not try to force the water through the filter.

No. If you really rarely use the Quell NOMAD filter bottle, you can use the filter longer than 2 months. We have checked the efficiency of the filter over time with minimal use in cooperation with the German laboratory ISEGA. See the results in the tests section. However, be sure not to leave the filter unchanged for more than one season, even with occasional use. We also recommend using a new filter if you want to use the bottle in an environment with uncertain water quality, e.g. when traveling abroad. You will be assured of the best possible filtration result.

If you use several Quell NOMAD bottles e.g. in a family or in a batch, you can distinguish them by the color of the filter cartridge. There is no other difference between them.

You certainly can. If you go on a trip and fill the bottle e.g. with mineral water, remove the filter and use the bottle like any other. When you run out of the drink, screw the filter back on and use its filtration capabilities after filling with water from another source.

No. It would damage the filter. Only fill bottle with water up to 38°C.

The Disruptor™ filter cartridge, as the most effective available (portable) filter, removes almost  all contaminants from the water to 99% (see the description of the technology) and thus, in the vast majority of cases provides you with safe drinking water. However, we do not know whether the water you are about to filter is not extremely industrially polluted or poisoned, so we can not give a clear answer to such a question. In case of unavailability of municipalwater, prefer springs and streams. If you use common sense, the Quell NOMAD bottle will reliably serve you wherever you need it.

Many people have digestive problems when drinking tap water abroad. This is caused by microorganisms in water. These are also present in permitted amounts in our domestic water, but the types of microorganisms present in water abroad may differ from the ours. And since our body is not used to these, the iringestion causes a stomach reaction, and the same water does not cause any problems for the domestic population. By filtering the water, the disruptor reduces all microorganisms (even foreign ones) to almost zero, thus eliminating this problem. We also recommend using filtered water abroad when brushing your teeth. In addition, Quell NOMAD can save you a lot of money on buying bottled water or solve a problem with drinking water at the airport or on the plane.

Wash the bottle in the usual way, you can also wash it in the dishwasher (without a filter!). Rinse the filter occasionally under running water.

EIVA filter jug

The service life of the filter cartridge is 480 liters or 3 months from the first use. However, the actual life may vary depending on the water you are filtering. More contaminated water clogs the filter sooner. A good indicator for filter replacement is the filtration time. Gradually increasing the filtration time is normal as the filter gradually becomes clogged with impurities. If the water is filtered for a long time, we recommend replacing the filter cartridge sooner.

At the beginning, water will flow through the new filter in about 7 minutes. Gradually, this time is extending to tens of minutes. The reason is the increase in the volume of fibers in the filter and gradual clogging of the filter surface (see pictures during use here)

No. If you rarely use the Quell EIVA filter jug, you can use the filter for more than 3 months. We checked the efficiency of the filter over time with minimal use in cooperation with the German laboratory ISEGA. See the test results in the Tests section. However, we do not recommend exceeding the filter cartridge’s use period of 6 months, even with occasional use of the jug. We also recommend using a new filter if you want to use the jug in an environment with uncertain water quality, e.g. abroad. This way you will be sure of the best possible filter result.

For comparison with some commonly available jugs, we performed tests in an accredited laboratory. See the Tests section for detailed results.

No. It would damage the filter. Only take cold water into the juge with a maximum temperature of 38oC.

No, Quell EIVA does not remove minerals.

If you are traveling abroad and have the opportunity to pack the jug for the trip, be sure to do so. For many of us abroad, drinking tap water causes stomach problems, even though its safety is guaranteed by a local water supplier. The cause are microorganisms in the water. These are also present in permitted amounts in our domestic water, but the types of microorganisms present in water abroad may differ from ours. And since our body is not used to these species, their ingestion can cause a stomach reaction and the same water does not cause any problems for domastic population. By filtering the water, the disruptor reduces all microorganisms to almost zero, thus eliminating this problem. We also recommend using filtered water abroad when brushing your teeth. In addition, Quell EIVA can save you a lot of money on buying bottled water. It is always necessary to activate the new filter (preferably still at home) in order to achieve its maximum effectiveness.

Household filtration units

No. These filter units differ only in design, the filters used are identical in both.

If you want to mount the filter unit for permanent use and at the same time you have a place on the sink for fitting a second water tap and a place for placing filters under the sink, choose the “undersink” version. If you can not drill into the sink, e.g. in case it is porcelain or if the installation of filtration is only temporary, e.g. due to sublease, choose the portable  “countertop” filter unit.

Simply to protect the Disruptor. The pre-filter prevents premature clogging of the Disruptor and thus, the need for its more frequent replacement. The PP Sediment or CarbonBlock filter can catch a lot of dirt and are cheaper to replace. This prolongs the life of the Disruptor.

The CarbonBlock filter is finer and captures more dirt. However, it clogs faster and thus reduces the waterflow. Therefore, we recommend using it for relatively clean water. Definitely also in the case of municipal water, because it also reduces chlorine. Be sure to use PP Sediment if the inlet water is more mechanically contaminated (sediment, sludge), for example in well water.

Quell filter units reduce the impurities common in well water to almost zero and are thus able to ensure water purity. However, since we can not rule out that the water in your well may be contaminated by e.g. chemicals from a nearby factory or farm, we always recommend doing a regular analysis of water in a specialized laboratory. Through its authorized service centers, Quell will even allow you to borrow the filtration equipment free of charge, so that you can analyze the water from your well even after filtration and thus make sure before the purchase itself that our equipment meets your requirements.

The capacity of the Disruptor filter cartridge is approximately 3,000 liters, which usually represents a service life of min. 6 months at a consumption of 17 liters per day. However, do not exceed a period longer than 12 months. The service life of PP Sediment or CarbonBlock pre-filters depends on the purity of the inlet water, usually 4-6 months. In their case, the water flow is a good indicator. If you notice a significant decrease in the water flow through the filter unit, replace the pre-filter first. If the flow rate improves, it will be sufficient to replace the Disruptor at the end of its service cycle.

No. Disruptor does not remove minerals from water.
