Test for arsenic, aluminium and antimony

27.04.2022 /  Based on repeated customer requests, we have conducted filtration efficiency tests for other heavy metals that are found in the water sources of many of you.We decided to have independent laboratory tests for arsenic, aluminium and antimony, which this time were carried out at the Veterinary and Food Institute in Košice. We have also added other filter jugs commonly available on the market for comparison. The input water before filtration was laboratory contaminated to the limit permitted values and after filtering the water, re-analyses of all samples were carried out. See the results of the individual analyses:   TEST PROTOCOLS: Inlet water before filtration QUELL results after filtration BRITA results after filtration LAICA results after filtration

Filter jugs efficiency test

05.03.2021 /  Each of us wants to drink clean, healthy water. To achieve this, many of us buy various filtration systems, whereas jugs are among the most common and most commonly used. Whether the filtration is effective and the filtered water is different, can be assessed to certain extent by ourselves according to the change in its sensory properties such as taste (reduced chlorine content), water clarity (removed turbidity and mechanical impurities) or by reduced scale formation in the kettle (reduced mineral content). But what about impurities that have no taste or do not manifest themselves on the outside (heavy metals, bacteria, microorganisms)?   Here, we either have to rely on the manufacturers' statement as to whether the given filtration equipment will deal with them or we can verify the filtration ability by a laboratory test. That's what we did. For the test, we have chosen the most commonly available jugs: Quell Eiva, Brita Marella a Laica Norma 3000     The tests themselves were performed by an accredited laboratory EL s.r.o. in Spišská Nová Ves. All jugs were brand new and activated according to the instructions (2x filtered volume with common water). The incoming water before filtration contained most of the contaminants that may be present in drinking water in a precisely measured concentration. After filtering the water, the laboratory performed a chemical and microbiological analysis of all samples again. Take a look at the results of particular analyses:   The Quell Eiva jug, which uses filtration technology from NASA, achieved much better filtration efficiency for almost all impurities than the other jugs compared.   Water from the Quell Eiva kettle will not only taste better, but will also be free of almost all impurities. Thanks to the ability to remove microorganisms from the water, it will serve you not only at home but also when traveling abroad.   Test protokols: Microbiological analysis: Inlet water before filtration QUELL results after filtration BRITA results after filtration LAICA results after filtration Chemical analysis: Inlet water and results after filtration

Quell NOMAD – tests in the German ISEGA laboratory

11.12.2020   We performed another test in cooperation with the German ISEGA laboratory ISEGA (www.isega.de), this time we did not use water from a natural source, but the contamination of the incoming water took place directly in the laboratory. The exact required degree of water contamination by selected substances has thus been achieved.     The test results confirmed the ability to reduce contaminants (E.coli, microorganisms, lead) with an efficiency of 99.99%.   Test results                             A frequently asked question is how effective the filter in the Quell NOMAD bottle is after two months since the first use if the bottle has been used only minimally or not at all. Therefore, we agreed with the ISEGA laboratory to repeat these tests with the same bottles and filters, after two months. We will publish the results of this test soon.

Quell NOMAD – tests after 3 months

19.02.2021 In the previous test of the Quell NOMAD bottle, the German laboratory ISEGA verified the effectiveness of the new filter. Its capacity covers 300 bottle fillings or two months of use respectivelly. But what if the filter bottle is used infrequently or has not been used for a long time after the first use? Will the filter lose its ability after two months or will it become ineffective? As this is a relatively common question, repeated laboratory tests can give us a reliable answer. The Quell NOMAD filter bottles used in the December 2020 tests were stored without further use for three months. Subsequently, the same filtration ability tests were performed on them again. Result: exactly the same efficiency as the new filter!   Test results                           While the filter capacity significantly depends on the purity of filtered water, the time aspect affects the efficiency of the Disruptor™ filtration technology less significantly. So how to use and change the filter in the bottle correctly? The volume of filtered water and its purity are very important. The collected impurities gradually clog the filter. Therefore, if you see that the water flow has visibly decreased, replace the filter immediately, regardless of the time of use or the volume of filtered water. Never "put pressure" on the filter. If you have reached the recommended 300 refills, the filter has fulfilled its task and replace it. If you are using the filter bottle infrequently and the water flow is sufficient, you can leave the filter in the bottle for two months after the first use. However, do not exceed a period of one season (6 months). If you are traveling to an area (country) with a higher risk of contaminated water, we recommend using a new filter. Remember to activate it before going on a trip (see manual). When not in use, empty the bottle and wash it. Allow the filter to dry.

Quell NOMAD filter bottle – test 1 and 2

19.11.2020   At the end of September 2019 we did the first test to find out what a small filter in a filter bottle can do in practice. We chose the Ružín water reservoir near Košice as a source of water. The water in it was contaminated with cyanobacteria at that time, which in contact with the skin leave an allergic reaction in many people and can cause e.g. conjunctivitis.   Taking a water sample   Quell NOMAD bottle filtration   Visual comparison of unfiltered and filtered water   The University of Veterinary Medicine and Pharmacy in Košice kindly helped us with the analysis of both water samples. The microbiological contamination was completely removed by filtration and the water met all drinking water requirements.   Water analyzes before filtration 9/23/2019   Water analyzes after filtration 9/23/2019 The bottle with the original filter was used repeatedly for the next two months, while we filtered similarly contaminated water. Here it is important to mention that the filter was already noticeably clogged after about the thirtieth cycle and after the fortieth filtration it was necessary to exert considerable force to push the water through the filter. Although the filtration results were still good, replace the partially clogged filter immediately during normal use and do not use it! Increased pressure can cause mechanical damage and thus the release of trapped dirt.   Water analyzes before filtration 11/13/2019   Water analyzes after filtration 11/13/2019
